Part to Full-time Spanish teacher (Grades K-5) – Spanish credential required-Proposed start date August 1, 2012

Instructional Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the WECS Spanish program (see WECS charter)
  • Provide daily Spanish instruction to all students, grades K-5
  • Plan, design, and present curriculum aligned with state standards and WECS exit outcomes
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods to address multiple learning modalities
  • Address the needs of all students, including students with disabilities, students not meeting pupil outcomes, high achieving students, and English- language learners
  • Implement the WECS inquiry process in each unit in History and Science, and as applicable in English, Mathematics, and Spanish
  • Collect student work and analyze according to grading criteria.
  • Utilize assessment data (e.g. student grades, standardized tests, value-added assessment information) to help guide planning
  • Develop a series of student goals and objectives for each student at the end of each semester
  • Summarize student grades and progress towards meeting student goals and objectives in a written report on a quarterly basis
  • Provide students with guidance while allowing the freedom of choice and independent discovery crucial to the WECS program

  • Hold at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Hold the appropriate California teaching credential, supplementary authorization, subject matter authorization, or be enrolled in a California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) approved intern program for no more than three years
  • Demonstrate subject-matter competence for each core academic subject to be taught
  • Be trained in, or obtain training in, inquiry based education and positive discipline
