Erica Schut

I completed my Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential in December 2006 at Sonoma State University and completed BTSA in May 2009 to receive a Clear Credential. In May 2004 I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art and have a Supplementary Credential to teach Introductory Art.

Having recently moved to the area, I have taken this opportunity to substitute teach in Lake County. Previously, from May 2010 to Nov. 2011, I worked full time at The Novato Youth Center teaching preschool, a summer kindergarten prep class, and a kindergarten after school class. The NYC is a non-profit organization that helps to educate and provide quality care for children from birth through adulthood.

I was substitute teaching during the 2009-2010 school year throughout Sonoma County. In the 2008-2009 school year I taught second grade at M. Hahn Elementary School in the Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District. That gave me a great opportunity to work with a grade level team and plan weekly with other second grade teachers. I also taught art to one of their classes as well as mine. Representing this team on the Principal’s Advisory Committee also provided me with the chance to collaborate with many teachers in the school.

In 2007-2008 I taught a third/fourth combination Gifted And Talented Education blended class at Waldo Rohnert Elementary School in the same district. During that year I had an opportunity to integrate the curriculum across grade levels and subjects. I was also challenged to differentiate every lesson according to grade level and ability.

I completed my full time student teaching in Sheree Stenberg’s Kindergarten class at this same school in Dec. 2006. It was a great experience to start the school year with the students. I observed and learned how to establish the routines in the classroom and introduce the discipline procedures. I also soloed for ten days and planned, prepared, and taught all of the subjects differentiated to a wide variety of students.
